Trump's New Reaction to the Release of Comey's Notes: 'Very Cowardly Behavior'

The President of the United States, in another reaction to the statements of the former FBI director during a Senate testimony, called the release of James Comey's notes from his meetings with him a 'cowardly act.' Donald Trump, who had previously referred to Mr. Comey as a 'leaker' in two separate reactions on Friday and expressed his willingness to testify 'under oath' about his conversations with him, also criticized the former FBI director in a Twitter message on Sunday. He stated, 'I believe what James Comey is revealing will go far beyond what anyone can imagine. Completely illegal? Very cowardly!' In the testimony presented on Thursday before the U.S. Senate Intelligence Committee, the dismissed FBI director confirmed that he had shared notes related to his meetings with the President with the media through a friend who is a law professor at Columbia University, hoping that such an action would pave the way for a meeting with Robert Mueller, the special counsel appointed to investigate Russian interference in the elections. He accused the President of the United States of 'lying' and said that Donald Trump had asked him to halt the investigation into Michael Flynn, the former national security advisor. This claim was explicitly denied by Mr. Trump. In this context, Mr. Trump stated on Friday at a press conference that he considers James Comey a 'leaker,' and his testimony in Congress shows that 'there was no collusion and no obstruction [of justice].' He also said that he never asked James Comey to pledge loyalty to him and would discuss this matter with special counsel Robert Mueller. Mr. Trump emphasized that he never asked the former FBI director to stop the investigation into his former national security advisor, Michael Flynn. He added that he is willing to testify under oath about his conversations with James Comey. Apparently, Mr. Trump's lawyer is set to file a lawsuit against James Comey for the release of information in the coming days. He will submit this complaint to the Office of the Inspector General of the Department of Justice and will also provide copies of this complaint and another objection to the Senate Judiciary and Security Committees.
