Trump's Nominee for Voice of America: Accurate and Fair Reporting

Kari Lake, Donald Trump's nominee to manage Voice of America, announced in an interview that her program after taking office will focus on "combating fake news" and "accurate and fair reporting." In her interview with Epoch TV, Lake emphasized, "I want to ensure that Voice of America has an excellent performance in narrating America's story to the world." She noted the "very good content" she has seen at Voice of America and added, "My goal is to ensure our journalism is at the highest possible level." Trump's nominee for managing Voice of America stressed, "We can take our reporting and journalism to countries that do not have access to a free press." According to her, "We must ensure that we tell the real story of America without bias and in a fair and accurate manner. That is all we want." Donald Trump, the elected President of the United States, introduced Kari Lake as his nominee for Voice of America about two weeks ago. In a statement, he said, "I am pleased to announce that Kari Lake will serve as the next director of Voice of America." Lake previously worked for years as a host on Fox 10 Phoenix. In the interview with Epoch TV conducted on Monday, December 24, she denied claims that she wants to turn Voice of America into "Trump TV," stating, "That is not what I want. I don't think it's something President Trump wants, and I don't think the American people want that either." Lake added that the world should be able to see "a fair and accurate picture of our great country" through access to Voice of America's reports and news. The nominee for managing Voice of America continued her remarks by stating that "there will be a lot of news in the next four years," saying, "We are entering a period that President Trump calls a golden age. Great things will happen, important stories will be unfolding." She emphasized that she wants to ensure, and also believes that the American people expect, these topics to be "covered accurately and without bias." Trump, when introducing his nominee for managing Voice of America, stated that he will work with the head of the U.S. Agency for Global Media (who will be appointed soon) to accurately and fairly reflect and disseminate American values, including "freedom," around the world; not like the "lies reflected by fake news media." After her introduction as the nominee for managing Voice of America, she stated that Voice of America "is an important international media outlet dedicated to advancing U.S. interests through direct engagement with people around the world and promoting democracy and truth." Lake added, "With 326 million audiences worldwide, Voice of America reports in 48 languages." According to Kari Lake, Voice of America under her leadership will reach the peak of its mission, which includes documenting America's progress in the world. Mike Abramowitz, the current head of Voice of America, responded to the announcement of Lake's selection by Trump, saying, "I welcome the smooth transition of power in the leadership of the U.S. Agency for Global Media and Voice of America." He added, "I intend to work with the new administration and follow the process that Congress has set for appointing the director of Voice of America."
