J.D. Vance, Donald Trump's potential vice presidential pick, called for cooperation between Israel and Sunni Arab countries against the Iranian regime. This Republican senator from Ohio accused the current U.S. administration of not utilizing the 'Abraham Accords' mechanism, which aims to weaken the Islamic Republic. The 'Abraham Accords,' established about four years ago under former President Donald Trump, normalized diplomatic relations between Israel and several Arab countries, including the UAE, Bahrain, and Morocco. Vance claimed that Joe Biden's policies have prolonged the Israel-Hamas war and hindered the establishment of relations between Israel and Saudi Arabia. While Saudi Arabia has stated that Israel's commitment to a two-state solution is a prerequisite for normalizing relations, the Biden administration continues to work on bringing Saudi Arabia and Israel closer together. In May of this year, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced in Riyadh that the U.S. was nearing the final stages of a security agreement with Saudi Arabia, which would be offered to Saudi Arabia if it normalizes relations with Israel. Meanwhile, the Biden administration has supported Israel extensively while using various tools to counter threats posed by the Islamic Republic. In his interview, Vance called for an immediate end to the war in Gaza and the formation of a united front of Israel and Sunni Arab countries against the Iranian regime. He mentioned the resumption of the peace process between Israel and Arab countries, including Saudi Arabia and Jordan, as a key goal of ending the Gaza war. Vance emphasized that the Abraham Accords demonstrated that cooperation between Israel and some Sunni Arab countries is feasible and that assistance should be provided to Israel and Sunni Arab nations to create a balance against Iran. He stated, 'Many people recognize that we need to do something about Iran, but not with these weak little bombings.' This likely refers to U.S. attacks on Iranian proxy groups in the Middle East. Vance clarified that the most important part of Trump's foreign policy doctrine is that U.S. military force should not be used unless absolutely necessary, and if so, it should be a hard punch. He added, 'If you want to hit the Iranian regime, you must hit hard.' He cited Trump's order to kill Qassem Soleimani, the commander of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, in January 2020 as an example of such hard hits. Vance mentioned that the killing of Soleimani led to 'establishing peace' and 'slowing down the operations' of the Islamic Republic. He called Trump 'Israel's best friend' and promised that if he wins the presidential election, he would reactivate the mechanisms to weaken the Iranian regime and strengthen Israel.
