Trump's Tweets Against Senior Republican Senator Regarding Nuclear Deal with Iran

The President of the United States has targeted a senior Republican senator in Twitter posts, identifying him as one of the politicians involved in shaping the nuclear deal between the U.S., world powers, and Iran. Senator Corker has responded to these tweets. On October 8, Donald Trump tweeted, "Senator Corker begged me for my endorsement in the Tennessee election. I said 'no' and he dropped out (said he couldn't win without my support)." Senator Corker, Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, recently announced that he would retire from Congress after his current term ends next year. Trump continued on Twitter, stating that Bob Corker "wanted to be Secretary of State, I said 'no thanks.' He has also played a major role in the terrible deal with Iran." The U.S. President then elaborated in another tweet, saying, "Bob Corker gave us the Iran deal. That’s it. We need healthcare, we need tax reform. We need people who can get the job done." Donald Trump has not hidden his deep dissatisfaction with the nuclear deal made by Barack Obama’s administration with Russia, France, China, Germany, the UK, and Iran, both during his campaign last year and after winning the presidential election. Some members of the administration have called for conditional support from the White House for the nuclear deal. On the other hand, Trump has repeatedly accused Iran of violating the "spirit" of the JCPOA, referencing its missile tests and regional issues. The International Atomic Energy Agency and other negotiating parties have confirmed Iran's compliance with the commitments linked to the deal from two years ago. The nuclear negotiations, which faced various ups and downs, began in 2002 after the disclosure of the dimensions of Iran’s nuclear program at the Natanz and Arak facilities.
