Trump's Warning: Anyone Who Trades with Iran Will Not Deal with the U.S.

Donald Trump, the President of the United States, on Tuesday morning, in a message on his Twitter page, referred to the official return of sanctions against Iran, stating that "anyone who trades with Iran will not deal with the United States." He added: "The only request I have is for global peace and nothing more." Mr. Trump emphasized in this message, shortly after the official return of Iran's sanctions, that these sanctions are the "most biting" sanctions ever imposed and that another phase will take place in November. The United States announced on Monday, August 6, that part of the sanctions against the Islamic Republic, which had been suspended after reaching the nuclear agreement, would be re-implemented. The enforcement of these sanctions, which became official at 8:30 AM Tehran time on Tuesday, follows Donald Trump's announcement in May of this year, after the deadline for correcting the flaws of the JCPOA had passed, in which he declared the United States' withdrawal from the nuclear agreement and ordered the return of Iran's sanctions. The U.S. Treasury Department has planned the return of Iran's sanctions in two phases, with the second round of sanctions, primarily targeting Iran's oil industry, set to be implemented from November 4. U.S. officials say they are working to reduce Iran's oil exports to zero by that time. The re-imposition of Iran's sanctions has faced various reactions, with the European Union expressing deep concern over the return of the sanctions, while Israel, which has been a serious critic of the nuclear agreement, welcomed it. In Iran, Hassan Rouhani, the President, in a live television interview on Monday night, described the return of sanctions alongside the U.S. proposal for negotiations as meaningless and stated that the U.S. would "regret" this action. On Tuesday, Bahram Qasemi, the spokesperson for Iran's Foreign Ministry, commented that actions such as the re-imposition of sanctions block the path for potential negotiations. Meanwhile, on Monday night, John Bolton, Trump's National Security Advisor, suggested to Iranian officials that they accept Donald Trump's proposal to sit at the negotiating table with the U.S. to prevent the re-imposition of sanctions.
