Two Citizens Arrested in Yasuj; Shahab Mohammadian and Iman Dastyar Transferred to Unknown Location

A human rights organization reported the arrest of two citizens residing in Yasuj, named Shahab Mohammadian and Iman Dastyar, on Sunday, June 17, stating that the intelligence agency that arrested them has transferred them to an unknown location. According to HRANA, the news agency of the Human Rights Activists in Iran, on Tuesday, June 18, Shahab Mohammadian and Iman Dastyar, two civil activists living in Yasuj, the capital of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province, were arrested by agents of the city's intelligence department. A source close to Dastyar's family told HRANA that it is unclear what charges have been brought against this citizen, and it is possible that 'his arrest was due to the publication of content on his Instagram page.' Previously, another citizen named Kourosh Jalil, who is related to Shahab Mohammadian, was also arrested. The report emphasized that 'there is no information available regarding the location of detention and the reasons for the arrest' of Shahab Mohammadian and Iman Dastyar. Previously, Iman Dastyar was arrested in September 2022 during nationwide protests following the death of Mahsa Amini in Yasuj and was later released on bail. He was also arrested in January 2023 after being summoned to the seventh branch of the Yasuj court and was released a week later on 'bail.' The reason for the arrest of these two citizens remains unclear, but in recent months, dozens of Instagram pages in various cities of Iran have been blocked by the Islamic Republic's law enforcement agencies, and their operators have been summoned or arrested under titles such as 'anti-cultural promoters.' Additionally, in recent weeks, Islamic Republic officials have arrested several citizens for expressing joy over the death of Ebrahim Raisi and for publishing content on social media, or have threatened them to delete the published content from their social media pages.
