Two Complaints Against Kermani Ghoddosi Rejected in Parliament, One Complaint Remains 'Silent'

A member of the Iranian Parliament's Ethics Committee announced that this committee did not find the complaint by Hossein Fereydoun, the brother of the President, against Jawad Kermani Ghoddosi to be valid and has also left Mustafa Kaveh Kabi's complaint against Kermani Ghoddosi 'silent'. According to Iranian news agencies, Mohammad Javad Jamali Nobandegani stated on Tuesday, January 3, that the Ethics Committee did not consider Kermani Ghoddosi's statements about Hossein Fereydoun to be 'against the duties of representation.' Jamali Nobandegani mentioned that Hossein Fereydoun has submitted three complaints against Kermani Ghoddosi, one of which is under review. This member of the Ethics Committee did not provide details about these complaints nor did he specify the subject of the three complaints from the brother of the Iranian President against this parliament member. However, Jawad Kermani Ghoddosi stated on December 15 of this year that one of Hossein Fereydoun's complaints was in response to his remarks about the 'voice imitation' of Hassan Rouhani by his brother and claimed that the eleventh government had filed ten complaints against him. He is one of the conservative representatives critical of Hassan Rouhani's government, and the publication of part of what he called Mohammad Javad Zarif's statements in the National Security Commission led to another complaint being filed. This complaint was submitted by Mustafa Kaveh Kabi to the Ethics Committee, but as Jamali Nobandegani said, this complaint has been left 'silent' at the request of Mr. Kaveh Kabi. According to ILNA news agency, Mr. Kaveh Kabi requested that 'this complaint not be raised for now.' Recently, Mr. Kermani Ghoddosi publicly released a quote from Mohammad Javad Zarif, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, during a meeting with members of the National Security Commission, which led to a controversy in Iran. This member of the National Security Commission claimed that the Iranian Foreign Minister had 'confessed' to a mistake regarding the JCPOA and stated that one should not have 'trusted' John Kerry's words. Following the publication of these remarks by Zarif through Kermani Ghoddosi, the Iranian Foreign Ministry issued a statement accusing this representative of the Stability Front of disclosing confidential discussions and negotiation tactics of the negotiating team. Some government supporters in social media and certain media outlets have criticized Kermani Ghoddosi's actions and other comments regarding Hassan Rouhani's government, calling for legal action against him. They have also criticized the judiciary for attempting to arrest Mahmoud Sadeghi, another parliament member, by the Tehran prosecutor's office, believing that the judiciary should take action against Kermani Ghoddosi for disclosing the National Security Commission's negotiations. Mahmoud Sadeghi is one of the parliament members whose statements in the parliament about certain personal accounts in the judiciary caused a stir and nearly led to his arrest. Three complaints have been submitted against Mr. Sadeghi to the Ethics Committee, which referred one of these complaints to the judiciary in December of this year. Meanwhile, this parliament member stated during remarks at the University of Tehran that the 'indictment' of Yashar Soltani has not yet been made, which led to a complaint from the case judge against him, and the Ethics Committee referred this complaint to the judiciary. Jawad Sadati Nejad, the representative of Kashan, had also previously submitted a complaint against Mahmoud Sadeghi regarding some of his remarks about scholarship students to this committee, which the committee ultimately sent to the judiciary as well. Jamali Nobandegani stated regarding this case that 'the Ethics Committee deemed Mr. Sadeghi's remarks to be against the duties of representation; unfortunately, the committee could not bring the parties [Sadati Nejad and Sadeghi] to peace and reconciliation.'
