Two Police Officers Killed in 'Attack by Unknown Individuals' in Ahvaz

Reports indicate that in an attack by armed individuals on a police station in Ahvaz early Monday morning, two law enforcement officers were killed and two others were wounded. According to news agencies Tasnim and IRNA, Colonel Ali Qasempoor, the deputy commander of the police force in Khuzestan province, stated that two officers from the Ahvaz police were killed in the early hours of Monday during the armed assault by unknown individuals. He did not provide details about the incident but mentioned that efforts to identify and apprehend the assailants have begun. In this context, the Mehr news agency reported that at 1:05 AM on Monday, armed individuals attacked the 22nd police station in the Mujahid neighborhood of Ahvaz, resulting in the injury of soldier Hossein Alboobald and Sergeant First Class Muslim Yadgari, while Lieutenant Third Ali Bakhsh Hasanvand and Sergeant First Class Azizollah Bahmani were killed. The funeral for the two law enforcement officers is scheduled for Tuesday. Following this attack, a group called the 'Arab Liberation Movement of Ahvaz' claimed responsibility, stating that they targeted a 'base belonging to the Revolutionary Guards.' According to IRNA, three Arab citizens of Khuzestan were arrested on charges of participating in this attack and were ultimately hanged in Mordad of last year.
