Two Political Prisoners to Masoud Beheshti: The Islamic Republic is the Root of All Imbalances

Fatemeh Sepahri and Mohammad Hossein Sepahri, two political prisoners opposing the Islamic Republic imprisoned in Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad, sent a message to Masoud Beheshti stating that "the greatest imbalance and the root of all other imbalances" in Iran is "the Islamic Republic itself." In the message from these two political prisoners, published on their brother Asghar Sepahri's 'X' page on Wednesday, December 5, in response to the statements of the President of the Fourteenth Government of the Islamic Republic regarding the possibility of rising gasoline prices due to "imbalances," they said: "The greatest imbalance and the root of all other imbalances is the Islamic Republic itself, which has never aligned with the goals of the nation and homeland." Fatemeh Sepahri and Mohammad Hossein Sepahri emphasized: "In 2019, we, along with friends, stated in the 14th statement and received nothing but imprisonment and harassment in response, but know that the nation heard our message with keen ears and will soon respond to this imbalance." The statement from June 2019 was published by 14 political activists calling for a transition from the Islamic Republic and the resignation of Ali Khamenei from the leadership of the Islamic Republic, and was later supported by another statement from 14 female political activists. Currently, most signatories of these two statements are either in the prisons of the Islamic Republic or facing judicial fabrications. Fatemeh Sepahri and her brother Mohammad Hossein Sepahri have faced multiple fabrications by the intelligence and judicial bodies of the Islamic Republic after signing these statements and have been imprisoned for years. Islamic Republic officials have also cut off Fatemeh Sepahri's monthly salary and insurance rights, as her husband was killed in the Iran-Iraq war, and expelled Mohammad Hossein Sepahri, a high school physics teacher with 26 years of experience, from the education system. Recently, in response to Fatemeh Sepahri's request for medical leave, as she is in a critical physical condition after multiple surgeries, judicial officials told her she could only leave prison if she promised not to speak to the media. Fatemeh Sepahri is one of four political prisoners for whom Kianoush Sanjari, a journalist and human rights activist, has called for her immediate and unconditional release.
