U.S. and Israeli Defense Ministers Discuss Ongoing Threats from Iran and Hezbollah

The Israeli publication 'Times of Israel' reported that during a phone call last night between these two senior American and Israeli officials, Yoav Gallant provided explanations regarding developments in Gaza and 'details related to the achievements of the Israeli Ministry of Defense in defeating the Hamas unit in Rafah and destroying over 150 tunnels in the area.' According to this report, the two sides also exchanged views on efforts to reach an agreement for the release of hostages held by Hamas in Gaza. 'Times of Israel' quoted the office of the Israeli Defense Minister stating that Yoav Gallant emphasized his 'firm commitment to reaching an agreement given the time sensitivity' related to it. Following the killing of Ismail Haniyeh, the political leader of Hamas, in Tehran on July 31, the Islamic Republic, despite its 'neither confirm nor deny' stance, has attributed this attack to Israel.
