The upcoming election debate will be moderated by Jake Tapper and Dana Bash, two CNN anchors, and will last 90 minutes, including two breaks for commercial advertisements. According to the decision of the Debate Commission, which has overseen these events for over three decades, there will be no commercial advertisements during the debates, but this commission will not oversee the upcoming debate. CNN has also announced that the moderators will use all the tools at their disposal to ensure proper timing and to promote a 'civilized discussion' as in previous years. Unlike previous years, the candidates will not start the debate with their campaign statements. However, at the end of the debate, each candidate will present a two-minute statement. This year, the candidates will also be given two minutes to answer a question. The moderators will have an additional minute, which they can use at their discretion. In this year's debate, candidates are not allowed to bring notes or materials with them and will only be provided with a pen, paper, and water. Their campaign staff will also not be allowed to speak with the candidates until the end of the debate. The Republican convention will take place next month in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and the Democratic convention will be in August in Chicago.
