According to Reuters, these unnamed U.S. officials told Fox News that the timing of the ballistic missile test is planned for the next 24 to 72 hours. If North Korea proceeds with this missile test, it would demonstrate that the country is disregarding international sanctions in this regard. Pyongyang has been sanctioned by the UN Security Council due to its nuclear and missile programs. The UN Security Council banned any ballistic missile tests by North Korea this year, a resolution that was also supported by China, which has close ties with North Korea. North Korea has conducted missile tests this year, with the last one occurring on October 20. South Korean and U.S. sources reported that North Korea tested a Musudan-type medium-range missile on October 20, but this test launch was unsuccessful. According to Reuters, these sources added that this unsuccessful missile test was the eighth conducted by North Korea in seven months. During these launches, North Korea has attempted to successfully test a missile with a final range of three thousand kilometers that can be launched from a mobile platform. The report of North Korea's missile test comes just seven days before the U.S. presidential election.
