U.S. President: I Inherited a Chaotic Situation

On Thursday, February 16, the U.S. President stated that he has inherited a "disordered situation" both domestically and internationally, attacking the media for being "out of control," which is why he communicates his message "directly to the people." Donald Trump, in a press conference, mentioned that jobs are moving to Mexico and other places, and there is widespread instability abroad. He said, "To be honest, I inherited a chaotic situation. This is disorder. Both in the country and outside the country. A mess." Trump announced that he would issue a new executive order next week to support the United States, which he considers necessary for controlling immigration to the U.S. His executive order from January 27, which banned the entry of citizens from seven predominantly Muslim countries, including Iran, was halted by a Washington state judge after about a week. Despite the government's lawyers' efforts to appeal this ruling, the San Francisco appeals court ruled to continue the halt of the President's executive order. Trump rejected reports of chaos in his administration, stating that his team works "like a clock." He attacked the media, saying, "I open the newspapers and see their reports about chaos and disorder. The situation is exactly the opposite. This government works like a clock, even though my cabinet is not yet complete." The U.S. President accused journalists of not telling the truth and only pursuing specific interests. He claimed that the leaked information is real, but the media spreads fake news. Trump's comments refer to the recent reports about Michael Flynn, his National Security Advisor, having discussions with the Russian ambassador in Washington. He emphasized that he has no connections or dealings with Russia and stated that he did not ask Flynn to discuss Obama’s sanctions against Moscow during his conversation with the Russian ambassador. Trump said Flynn "did his job well, and I agree with him." However, he expressed dissatisfaction with Flynn for the way he communicated information regarding this conversation to Vice President Mike Pence. Flynn stated in a statement that he apologized to the Vice President for this reason and resigned from his position. Trump also mentioned that he is unaware if other members of his campaign had contacts with Russian officials before the election. He further stated that U.S. media reports make it harder to reach an agreement with Russia. In a tweet on the same day, Donald Trump wrote: "The spotlight will eventually fall on the guilty leakers! They will be caught!" In another tweet, he accused Democrats of fabricating news reports related to Russia because they "lost the election." The U.S. President wrote: "Democrats have to make up this story because they lost the election, badly (306)." Trump referred to the number of electoral votes he received in the November 8 election. He continued: "So they made up this report - Russia. Fake news!" This week, after it became clear that Michael Flynn, his National Security Advisor, had negotiations with the Russian ambassador before his administration took office, Trump asked him to resign. U.S. intelligence agencies say that Russia interfered in the presidential election in favor of Trump by hacking the emails of the Democratic Party. On Tuesday, Trump also strongly criticized the leaks from U.S. media that led to Flynn's resignation, tweeting: "The real scandal is that classified information is illegally leaked by 'intelligence agencies' like candy.
