U.S. Primaries: Two Wins for Sanders, One Win for Cruz

The U.S. primaries were held on April 3 (U.S. time) in Arizona and Utah for both the Democratic and Republican parties, as well as Idaho for the Democratic Party. Clinton achieved a major victory, and Trump also secured Arizona. In Arizona, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, the leading candidates of the Democratic and Republican parties, outpaced their rivals. This state has 75 delegates for Democrats and 58 for Republicans, making it more significant than other states where the competition took place on Tuesday. Trump's slogans against immigrants, building a wall on the Mexican border, or deporting them from the United States, have garnered support from some residents of states bordering Mexico, including Arizona, where local figures like Joe Arpaio, a famous sheriff, have also supported Trump. On the other hand, it was previously stated that Democratic support for Hillary Clinton in this state is stronger. Local media reports indicate that long lines formed at polling stations in Arizona hours before voting began. In Utah, Bernie Sanders emerged victorious, and Ted Cruz surpassed John Kasich and Donald Trump. Utah is considered a traditional state in America, and it was evident that Ted Cruz had greater public appeal there. The majority of the state's residents are Mormons (members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints), and Mitt Romney, the Republican candidate in the 2012 presidential election, who is also a Mormon, is one of Trump's staunch critics. In Idaho, Sanders also managed to surpass Clinton. Previously, Ted Cruz had won the primaries on March 8 in this state. Bernie Sanders has primarily won in states where 'caucus meetings' were held. In caucus meetings, voting is not done directly; rather, candidates are voted on during a meeting. Both Idaho and Utah had Democratic caucus meetings. Utah has 40 delegates for Republicans and 33 for Democrats. Idaho has 23 delegates in the Democratic count.
