U.S. Special Prosecutor Files New Indictment Against Trump in January 6 Case

In this area, the Supreme Court ruled that Trump is completely immune from legal prosecution. This modified case represents the first attempt by prosecutors to align themselves with the U.S. Supreme Court's opinion, which may lead to significant revisions in the charges against the former president due to his efforts to prevent the peaceful transfer of power. The case was submitted to the judge three days before the deadline set for prosecutors and defense attorneys to inform the judge how they intend to proceed in light of the Supreme Court's ruling. The Republican candidate for this fall's election described the new indictment on his social media platform, Truth Social, as 'an act of desperation' and an effort to 'revive a dead attempt' to blame him. The former president further stated that the new case 'has all the problems of the old indictment and should be dismissed immediately.' Donald Trump has repeatedly denied allegations of interference in the outcome of the four-year-old presidential election.
