U.S. Supports Paris's Action Against Iranian Intelligence Individuals and Entities in France

The White House National Security Council described the French police operation regarding the "failed Iranian terrorist plot in Paris" as a "strong action." A U.S. State Department spokesperson also referred to the recent events, labeling the Islamic Republic as the "primary supporter of terrorism." The White House National Security Council tweeted about the seizure of assets belonging to Iranian intelligence services and two Iranian citizens in response to the "attack plan against the Mojahedin-e Khalq conference" in Paris, stating, "France has taken strong action against Iran's failed terrorist plot in Paris." The tweet continued, "Tehran must understand that such shameful behavior will not be tolerated." France blocked assets belonging to Iran's Ministry of Intelligence. In Washington, Heather Nauert, the State Department spokesperson, referenced the Paris operation in response to Moscow's criticism of the U.S. stance on Tehran's support for terrorism. Nauert stated, "As we know, the French government has announced that it has blocked the assets of two Iranian officials and their security services and Ministry of Intelligence. This occurred after preventing a bombing plot at a political conference (Mojahedin-e Khalq) in Paris in June." The U.S. State Department spokesperson then mentioned several actions and accusations against the Islamic Republic, stating, "We have witnessed Iran's destructive actions as the primary supporter of terrorism globally." The French government announced on Tuesday that it had blocked assets belonging to Iranian intelligence services and two Iranian citizens in response to the "attack plan against the Mojahedin-e Khalq conference" on July 1. The "National Council of Resistance" conference, composed of the Mojahedin-e Khalq organization and aligned groups, was held in the suburbs of Paris, with the Mojahedin-e Khalq claiming over 25,000 participants. The conference was attended by several former U.S. and European politicians and officials from several Middle Eastern countries, emphasizing the "overthrow" of the Islamic Republic. Shortly after, several diplomats and Iranian citizens were arrested on charges of planning an attack on this conference, and operations began in various European countries regarding this matter. However, Iran has denied all accusations, and its foreign minister stated that Tehran is "ready to cooperate with all relevant officials to uncover what is merely a wicked plot to provide false leads." The Iranian Foreign Ministry has called the attack case a "scenario" to undermine Iran-Europe relations, stating that this case recalls the self-immolation of Mojahedin-e Khalq members during the arrest of their leader, Maryam Rajavi, in Paris. On the other hand, the Mojahedin-e Khalq claimed they had previously warned about the "terrorist preparations" of diplomats and forces from the Ministry of Intelligence and the Quds Force of the Revolutionary Guards. However, the recent accusations against the Islamic Republic are not unprecedented, as Tehran has been accused of assassinating and killing several officials of the previous regime and its opponents abroad since the 1979 revolution. Iran again called for the release of its detained diplomats on Tuesday and denied the accusations made against them.
