U.S. Supports Sanctions on 13 Individuals and Entities Linked to the Islamic Republic

The spokesperson for the U.S. State Department announced U.S. support for Britain's sanctions on 13 individuals and entities linked to the Islamic Republic, urging other allies to take further actions against the Islamic Republic's "hostile actions" and "destabilizing behavior." In a statement, Matthew Miller emphasized the U.S. commitment to supporting Britain and the international community in countering the proliferation of weapons, brutal repression, and threats to individuals worldwide by the Islamic Republic. Miller also condemned Iran's plots against American citizens and others. The spokesperson reiterated the U.S. determination to work with Britain and its allies for "deterrence and accountability" regarding any potential "threat or attack" from the Islamic Republic. The U.S. State Department's statement highlighted that the Islamic Republic's hostile activities are in stark contrast to U.S. efforts to "promote de-escalation" and "strengthen peace in the Middle East." On Wednesday, Britain sanctioned 13 individuals and entities linked to the Islamic Republic for "violating the human rights of Iranians," including "the right to freedom of expression and assembly." James Cleverly, the British Foreign Secretary, referred to the "suppression of the Iranian people" by the Islamic Republic, its involvement in bloodshed in Ukraine and the Middle East, and its threats to kill and kidnap individuals on British soil, stating: "Today, Britain sent a clear message to the regime: 'We will not tolerate this malign behavior and we will hold you accountable.'"
