Ukraine Asks Israel to Deliver Captured Hezbollah Weapons to Kyiv

The Ukrainian ambassador to Israel on Tuesday, January 22, expressed hope that the Israeli parliament would pass a law to donate Russian weapons captured from Hezbollah to Kyiv. Yevhen Korniichuk stated that he discussed this matter earlier on Tuesday during a meeting with Sharren Haskel, Israel's Deputy Foreign Minister. Haskel presented a proposal to the Knesset in November that would allow the transfer of Russian-made weapons seized by the Israeli army from Israel's enemies in Lebanon or elsewhere to Ukraine for use in its battle against Russia. The Wall Street Journal previously reported that 60 to 70 percent of the weapons acquired by the Israeli army during its ground assault in southern Lebanon were of Russian origin. Ukraine has been engaged in a war with Russia since February 2022. The Israeli army neutralized a significant portion of the military capabilities of this Iranian proxy group during two months of intense conflict with Hezbollah, eliminating many of its leaders, including Hassan Nasrallah. Ukraine attacked a fuel depot for Russian bombers. Britain accused Russia of carrying out 'subversive actions' in Europe. An emergency NATO and Ukraine meeting followed Russia's attack with a new supersonic missile. Ukraine attacked Russia with British missiles.
