Ukraine Proposes the Possibility of a 'Peace Summit' Involving Russia

A senior Ukrainian official said on Sunday that Ukraine and its foreign partners could invite Russia to a peace summit in the future to discuss the end of Moscow's two-year invasion under conditions set by Kyiv. Andriy Yermak, head of Zelensky's office, stated that Switzerland would host a meeting to discuss the peace prospects of Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, with a second session potentially being handed over to Russia at a later date. According to Reuters, Yermak said in a televised conference in Kyiv, 'There may come a time when we together invite representatives of the Russian Federation, and this plan will be presented to them, just in case anyone representing the aggressor country at that time truly wants to end this war and return to a just peace.' Zelensky first announced his peace plan in November 2022 at the G20 summit of major economies. This plan calls for the restoration of Ukraine's territorial integrity and the complete withdrawal of Russian forces. Kyiv has claimed that it will not negotiate with Moscow until all Russian forces are withdrawn from Ukrainian territory. The Kremlin has stated that there is currently no basis for peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, and Kyiv's peace plan is void as it ignores Russia. Ukraine claims that 409,820 Russian soldiers have been killed in the war. Russian officials returned Alexei Navalny's body to his mother. Western solidarity with Kyiv continues; EU aid will persist until Ukraine's 'final liberation.' The US ambassador to the UN stated that Russia has created a global crisis in all areas by attacking Ukraine.
