UN Rapporteur Expresses Concern Over Iranian Protesters' Execution Threats by the Islamic Republic

Amid reports of the Islamic Republic's plans to execute protesters, "Mai Sato," the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights, expressed concern on social media platform X regarding the use of capital punishment to suppress protests in Iran, stating: "The threat of execution and the issuance of a sentence for one of the protesters is an illegal act and a clear indication of disregard for the freedom of assembly and expression." Some human rights sources in Iran have warned that the authorities intend to execute detained protesters swiftly. Recently, the name Erfan Soltani has come up, who was arrested in Karaj and had his death sentence issued just two days later. Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei, the head of the judiciary, has repeatedly emphasized the need for expedited handling of protesters' cases for judicial action. Human rights sources report that the Islamic Republic has killed thousands of protesters in cities with direct gunfire just on the past Thursday and Friday. A senior American lawmaker stated: "The fall of the Ayatollah is inevitable."
