Unveiling of Samsung Galaxy S9 Smartphone

Samsung introduced its new flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus, featuring a design similar to the previous generation but with more powerful hardware. Last year, Samsung launched its S series flagships with a new design that included a stretched display with an unconventional aspect ratio of 18.5:9. The bezels surrounding this display have been significantly narrowed. The Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus do not have much visual difference from their predecessors. The new S series flagships, like the S8 model, can remain underwater at a depth of 1.5 meters for 30 minutes without issues. The Galaxy S9 features a 5.8-inch Super AMOLED display with curved edges, a resolution of 2960 × 1440 pixels, and an aspect ratio of 18.5:9, covered with Gorilla Glass 5. The Plus version of this flagship uses a similar display, but its screen size is 6.2 inches. The Galaxy S9 Plus comes with a dual camera vertically positioned in the middle of the back panel. The main camera of the Galaxy S9 is a single 12-megapixel with a dual aperture of 1.5 and 2.4. The main camera of the S9 Plus is designed to be dual. The wide lens in this model is 12 megapixels with apertures of 1.2 and 2.4. The telephoto lens of the S9 Plus is also 12 megapixels with an aperture of 2.4, providing better portrait image capturing capabilities. The main cameras of both phones are Dual Pixel with optical image stabilization. Super slow-motion recording at 960 frames per second and HD recording using a data buffer are new features added to the Samsung S series phones. Additionally, the dual lenses allow for high-quality low-light photography. The selfie camera in both the S9 and S9 Plus models will be 8 megapixels with autofocus and an aperture of 1.7. The 3.5mm headphone jack has not been removed from the S and S Plus models. The new Galaxy model is equipped with stereo speakers for the first time; these speakers are optimized by AKG and utilize Dolby ATMOS technology. During the unveiling event, Samsung claimed that the output volume of the new flagships is 1.4 times that of the Galaxy S8. The new S series flagships come in both S9 and Plus models with three internal memory options: 64, 128, and 256 gigabytes. The RAM for the S9 is four gigabytes, while the S9 Plus has six gigabytes. These phones support external memory, allowing for up to 400 gigabytes from microSD cards, providing more space for high-quality video recording. The S9 and S9 Plus models will be launched with the Snapdragon 845 processor in China and the USA. In other global markets, these phones will feature Samsung's latest 10nm custom chip, the Exynos 9810. This chip consists of eight processing cores, including 4 Cortex A73 cores at 2.9 GHz and 4 Cortex A55 cores at 1.9 GHz, with the Mali-G72 MP18 handling graphics processing. According to Samsung, due to the LTE modem support of the Exynos 9810 chip, it enables download bandwidth of 1.2 gigabits per second and upload bandwidth of 200 megabits per second. Both phones will be available in three versions with storage capacities of 64, 128, and 256 gigabytes, with the option to expand memory through a shared slot with the second SIM card up to 400 gigabytes; however, Samsung has chosen 4 gigabytes of RAM for the smaller version and 6 gigabytes for the Plus version. Both models have fingerprint scanners and iris scanners. The fingerprint sensor in this advanced device has been relocated to below the camera on the back panel, thus addressing a criticism of the S8 and potentially making access to the fingerprint sensor easier. Samsung has attempted to enhance the security of this series of phones by adding an eye scanner to its new flagship. Biometric identification (biometrics) for face recognition, eye scanning, and fingerprint scanning are all usable in these two phone models. Smart scanning is also present in this model, intelligently combining the power of eye scanning and face recognition to quickly unlock the phone. An exclusive fingerprint is also available, which is different from the fingerprint used to unlock the phone, allowing user access to the Secure Folder. The Galaxy S9 Plus is about 2 millimeters shorter than the S8 Plus, while it is about 0.4 millimeters wider and thicker. However, it should be noted that despite the increase in the thickness of the phone, the battery capacity has not changed. In Samsung's new product, the same 3,500 milliamp-hour battery is used. The Galaxy S9 has a similar situation, as it is about one millimeter shorter than the phone, but the battery capacity has not changed, and despite being about 0.4 millimeters thicker, it still has a capacity of 3,000 milliamp-hours as before. Another new feature that Samsung has added to its new flagships is AR Emoji, which creates dynamic emojis that match the user's facial movements. With this service, a wide range of facial reactions can be displayed, which can be sent via text message or saved as GIF files. This new feature has been created in competition with Animoji on the iPhone X. The new Samsung flagships will be available in four colors: black, blue, gray, and a new lilac purple color. According to Samsung, during the unveiling of the new products, the actual price of the S9 is approximately $200 lower than the iPhone X and is almost equal to the Galaxy S8. At this event, Samsung announced the start of pre-orders for these phones from March 2 and their release starting from March 15.
