US and UK Attacks on Houthi Positions; Islamic Republic Warns About 'Suspicious Spy Vessels'

The Islamic Republic of Iran warned the United States on Sunday about the potential targeting of two vessels in the Middle East, which have long been suspected of being operational and espionage bases for the special forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran. According to the Associated Press, this warning was issued right after the US and UK launched extensive airstrikes against Houthi rebels in Yemen. The statement from Iranian officials seems to refer to the vessels Behsad and Saviz. This warning reflects the growing concerns of Iranian officials regarding recent US attacks in Iraq, Syria, and Yemen, which targeted Iran-backed militants. The US attacks are in retaliation for the deaths of three American soldiers and injuries to dozens more in Jordan, with the US holding Iran-backed militants responsible. The Sunday attacks targeted six provinces controlled by Houthi rebels in Yemen, including Sana'a. The Houthis have not provided an assessment of the damage, but the US stated that it struck underground missile depots, launch sites, and helicopters used by the Houthis. In response to multiple attacks on American forces and the deaths of three of them in Jordan, many in the US have called for targeting IRGC positions within Iran, and the Wall Street Journal previously stated in an editorial that 'everyone knows the real leadership of the attacks is Iran.' This editorial further called for an attack on the Behsad vessel, which is said to be an Iranian spy vessel in waters near Yemen, assisting the Houthis in targeting commercial ships. The military operations of the US and its allies against the Houthis; anti-ship cruise missiles and '36 other targets' in Yemen were attacked.
