US Attacks ISIS Positions in Syria and Warns Against Collaboration with the Group

The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) stated that its forces carried out dozens of precise airstrikes on Sunday, December 9, targeting known ISIS camps and forces in central Syria. According to the statement, published on the day the fall of Bashar al-Assad's government was announced, these attacks aimed at ISIS leaders, forces, and camps as part of an ongoing mission to disrupt, weaken, and defeat ISIS to prevent the execution of 'external operations by this terrorist group' and to ensure that ISIS does not 'exploit' the current situation in Syria or rebuild in central Syria. CENTCOM reported that over 75 targets were attacked using various US Air Force equipment, including B-52 bombers, F-15 fighters, and A-10 aircraft. The statement noted that the US is assessing the combat damage from these operations and that no signs of civilian casualties have been reported. The CENTCOM statement added that Washington, along with its regional allies and partners, will continue operations to reduce ISIS's operational capabilities even under the current circumstances in Syria. The CENTCOM commander emphasized, 'There should be no doubt that we will not allow ISIS to rebuild and exploit the current situation in Syria.'
