US Reaction to Khamenei's Stance on Arab Countries Normalizing Relations with Israel: We Don't Care

On Tuesday, the Deputy Spokesperson of the US State Department responded to a question regarding the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic's views on the normalization of relations between Arab countries and Israel, stating that the US does not care about this perspective. During a press conference on Wednesday, in response to a question from a Voice of America reporter about Ali Khamenei's remarks on the normalization of relations, where he said, 'They are betting on a losing horse,' Vedant Patel said: 'The normalization of relations between Arab countries and Israel can lead to positive changes in the region, which is why we are not interested in hearing the views of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic.' Patel further added: 'The United States has constructive ties with some of these countries, including Israel and Saudi Arabia, and the establishment of relations between Arab countries in the region and Israel will significantly impact the confrontation and fight against the destructive and destabilizing activities of the Iranian regime in the region.' On Tuesday morning, Ali Khamenei, in a speech to a group of Islamic Republic officials, ambassadors from Islamic countries, and foreign guests, harshly criticized the normalization of relations by some governments with Israel. The Supreme Leader stated that governments that, according to him, 'bet on the normalization of relations with Israel will suffer losses because this regime is going to disappear, and they are betting on a losing horse.' Yoav Gallant, Israel's Defense Minister, also reacted to Khamenei's remarks, saying: 'The murderous terrorist regime in Iran has previously succeeded in collapsing several countries under its control and now wants to undermine peace efforts with empty threats.' He added: 'The Islamic Republic will continue its actions to expand terror and destruction, and Israel will continue to seek security for its citizens and peace in the Middle East.' The prospect of a peace agreement between Israel and Saudi Arabia, mediated by the United States, has increased in recent weeks. According to the White House, there is currently a 'basic framework' for such an agreement.
