US Reaction to Reports of Torture and Fabricated Execution of Saman Yasin: A Violation of Human Rights

The Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners published a letter from Ahmadreza Haeri, detailing the horrific torture and fabricated execution of Saman Yasin (Seydi), a rap artist and opponent of the Islamic Republic. The letter described how this young protester was subjected to a staged execution last December, and that only two days after 'that horrific night,' the actual death sentence was communicated to Saman, leading to severe shock for his pregnant wife and causing her to miscarry at eight months. According to Ahmadreza Haeri's letter, Saman has not been taken to any other court apart from that staged session last November, his lawyer has no access to the case file, and he has been left in limbo in prison for fourteen months. Concerns are rising about the condition of Saman Yasin, with human rights sources stating that his situation is 'critical' and prison officials are refusing to send him to medical facilities. Additionally, rapper Sadegh Ghasemi was arrested in Ahvaz, further increasing concerns about Saman Yasin's condition in Qazalhasar.
