Vafa Ahmadpour and Daniel Moghaddam Transferred from Shiraz Intelligence Detention Center to Adelabad Prison

Vafa Ahmadpour and Daniel Moghaddam, two protesting singers who were arrested on May 9, remain in detention without clarity for over a month. According to HRANA, the news agency of human rights activists in Iran, on Thursday, June 13, it was announced that Vafa Ahmadpour, known as 'Vafadar', and Daniel Moghaddam have been transferred from the Shiraz Intelligence Detention Center to Adelabad Prison. The two protest rappers were arrested after performing a song titled 'Amadeh Bash' in Shiraz. Just hours before their arrest, Daniel Moghaddam had reported on his Instagram about the raid by agents at his home, stating: 'They came. People, they came to my house. Vafa and I are together.' In their song 'Amadeh Bash', filmed at the ancient site of Persepolis, they criticize the Islamic Republic and address the crises and problems facing the people of Iran. A day before their arrest, Daniel Moghaddam had called on the Iranian authorities via Instagram to free 'all political prisoners and artists' and end 'mandatory hijab', stating: 'We are on standby for the liberation of Iran from your filthy hands, you worthless beings.' Moghaddam had previously been summoned due to a video he released about violence against women. Additionally, Vafa Ahmadpour had also been summoned and arrested for supporting public protests and producing protest art. Pressure on protesting artists by the Islamic Republic in Iran has increased following widespread support from many cultural and sports figures for the protests after the death of Mahsa Amini in the custody of the morality police. Among the protesting artists, Tomaj Salehi and Saman Seydi (Yasin) face the death penalty, and although the ruling against Saman was overturned, Tomaj still faces the threat of execution. Furthermore, over 100 artists, musicians, and writers have called for the immediate cancellation of the death sentence and the release of Tomaj Salehi.
