Vehicle with Ice Wheels

Lexus has introduced a model of its vehicle equipped with four completely ice wheels. Although this model has only been driven for the filming of a television program on the streets of London, its fully ice wheels are real and were created with the help of artists from a sculpting studio. According to the Daily Mail, after months of design and planning, a group of sculptors from the 'Hamilton Ice Sculpting Studio' managed to create tires from four large ice molds in 36 hours. These artists have meticulously replicated the details of a real tire on these ice molds. The ice wheels were made for the NX model. The ice sculptors spent 36 hours extracting the details of these wheels from the molds. The entire project will be showcased in a documentary on one of Britain's television networks. To create these ice molds, Lexus used deionized water, which, due to the acrylic present in it, turns into very clear ice. The use of acrylic was necessary to support the weight of this model vehicle, which is nearly two tons (two thousand kilograms). These wheels are also equipped with transparent LED lights that illuminate the moving wheels. The Hamilton studio, located in London, employed four skilled artists to carve these four wheels. This studio specializes in carving large ice sculptures and snow art. Jack Hackney, one of the four ice sculptors, states that being a sculptor means having a strong imagination and powerful details. This is why these wheels are an extraordinary artistic work, as their shape is very geometric and powerful, making them suitable for being sculpted in ice. After carving the wheels, the vehicle (and wheels) were kept at a temperature of minus 30 degrees for five days to ensure that the ice remained solid while in motion. The Lexus manager states that the company's concept is intertwined with creating extraordinary things. 'We combine the most advanced technologies available with the best traditional craftsmanship to achieve something extraordinary.' This project will be aired during a program called 'Frozen Christmas' during the New Year holidays on Channel 4 of British television.
