Victims of Hamas Terrorist Attack File Complaint Against Iran, North Korea, and Syria

More than 100 victims of the Hamas terrorist attack on Israel on October 7 and their family members filed a complaint on Monday, July 2, against the governments of Iran, North Korea, and Syria, accusing them of supporting the attack and demanding $4 billion in damages. This complaint, registered by the Anti-Defamation League and the law firm 'Kroll & Moring' in the federal court in Washington, D.C., is the largest case against foreign countries related to the October 7 terrorist attack and is the first complaint supported by a Jewish organization. The governments of the three countries mentioned are listed by the United States as state sponsors of terrorism and are accused in Monday's complaint of financial, military, and tactical support for Hamas. In this context, Jonathan Greenblatt, the executive director of the Anti-Defamation League, in an exclusive interview with the Persian section of Voice of America, referred to the organization's 110-year history in combating anti-Semitism and described the Islamic Republic as not only the largest state sponsor of terrorism but also one of the largest supporters of anti-Semitism in the world. He pointed out that the October 7 Hamas terrorist attack on Israel was the largest massacre of Jews in a single day since the Holocaust, emphasizing that the victims of this attack and their families deserve justice. Mr. Greenblatt stated that the purpose of the Anti-Defamation League's complaint against the governments of Iran, North Korea, and Syria is to hold them accountable and achieve justice for the more than 100 plaintiffs in this case. The executive director of the Anti-Defamation League said that the Islamic Republic of Iran is actively involved in training, supporting, and financing Hamas and is part of the disastrous October 7 attack against Israeli, American, and other citizens. Since the October 7 terrorist attack by Hamas on Israel, senior officials of the Islamic Republic, including Ali Khamenei and commanders of the IRGC, have repeatedly expressed public support for this attack and called for the destruction of Israel. In nearly nine months since the attack, Iran's proxy groups, including Hezbollah, the Houthis, and Shiite militias in Iraq and Syria, have carried out repeated attacks against Israel and sometimes against U.S. bases in the region. The Islamic Republic also, in late April of this year, unprecedentedly fired over 300 drones and missiles toward Israel, most of which were intercepted by a coalition consisting of the U.S., Israel, the U.K., France, and Jordan before entering Israeli airspace. The Islamic Republic claims that an all-out war by Israel against Hezbollah will initiate a 'devastating war.' The U.S. and Europe have warned Hezbollah to cease attacks on Israel. Concerns are rising over 'escalating tensions in the region'; Netanyahu accused the Islamic Republic of attempting to 'conquer the Middle East.' Iraqi militants targeted the port of Eilat in Israel; an attack on a ship in the Gulf of Aden. The Houthis recently claimed to have attacked four ships in the Red Sea and the Mediterranean.
