Warning from a Human Rights Lawyer: Narges Mansouri's Life is in Danger

A human rights lawyer has warned that the life of Narges Mansouri, a political prisoner who is on the fourteenth day of a hunger strike, is in danger. Mohammad Moqimi, a human rights attorney, stated on Monday, January 8, that '14 days have passed since this political prisoner has been on a hunger strike and has refused medication,' writing on the social media platform X: 'Narges Mansouri's life is in danger.' Mansouri has gone on a hunger strike due to the 'illegal seizure of her bail,' and according to Moqimi, 'her condition is deteriorating.' Despite the danger to her health, this political prisoner has been 'banned from visits,' and 'her family has no news of her.' Previously, this political prisoner announced from Evin Prison that despite her illness, she has been on a hunger strike since December 25, stating: 'The responsibility for my life, as the child of a martyr prisoner, lies with Ali Khamenei.' Narges Mansouri is one of the 14 women who signed the '14 Statement' calling for Ali Khamenei's resignation and a transition from the Islamic Republic. She has previously reported on the physical and financial damages inflicted upon her during both her 'terrifying' arrest and her time in detention and prison, and has mentioned a project of 'madness-making' by security institutions against her, adding: 'While I am currently facing five definitive convictions, officials are opening a sixth case against me and preventing my release.'
