Warning from Fatemeh Sepehri's Brother About Her Health Condition in Prison: Severe Pain in Chest and Arms

A family member of Fatemeh Sepehri, a political prisoner held in Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad, has raised concerns about her health condition, stating that she is suffering from "severe pain in both arms, pain in the chest and back, as well as high and irregular heartbeats." Asghar Sepehri, Fatemeh's brother, wrote on social media on Sunday, September 9, that this political prisoner "needs to be examined every three months," but the last examination by a cardiologist was on May 1, and she is currently "suffering from high and irregular heartbeats as well as pain in the chest and back." According to Fatemeh Sepehri's brother, while an orthopedic specialist on July 21 "ordered 10 sessions of physiotherapy for both of her arms, she has only been taken for two sessions so far." He also stated that this political prisoner "does not have access to proper food" and is "distressed by severe pain in both arms, which the doctor attributes to stress and muscle weakness." Asghar Sepehri further wrote: "After heart surgery last October, she has repeatedly requested medical leave and appropriate leave, but the Mashhad information office and the supervising judge of the prison, Navid Tabatabai, have opposed it." Fatemeh Sepehri is a political prisoner opposed to the Iranian government and a signatory of the "14 Statement" calling for Ali Khamenei's resignation and a transition from the Islamic Republic. She has been imprisoned multiple times before and was re-arrested at the end of September 2022, and since then has faced repeated "case-making."
