Warning from 'Tuesdays No to Execution': The Danger of Executing Four Baloch Prisoners Involved in This Campaign

The 'Tuesdays No to Execution' campaign, in its fortieth week of activity, announced in a statement on Tuesday, November 8, that on November 4, the court confirmed the death sentences of four Baloch political prisoners named Aido Shahbakhsh, Abdul Ghani Shahbakhsh, Abdul Rahim Qanbarzahi, and Suleiman Shahbakhsh, and referred the execution orders to the Tehran Security Prosecutor's Office. Members of the campaign warned that these four individuals, who are part of the 'Tuesdays No to Execution' campaign, have been held under difficult conditions in the 'secure ward' of Qazalhasar Prison for over 16 months and face the risk of execution at any moment. According to this statement, approximately 567 executions have taken place since the beginning of this year, with 150 people executed in October alone and 27 in the first week of November. The campaign announced that Jamshid Sharmand, after four years in detention without being transferred to the general ward, was executed yesterday. During this time, security agencies prevented Sharmand's transfer to the general ward to hide the torture and violation of his human rights. The statement further mentioned that the Tehran 'kangaroo court' sentenced five female political prisoners in Evin to a total of 27 additional months in prison for protesting against widespread executions. One of these prisoners, Varishe Moradi, who faces charges of rebellion and the possibility of a death sentence, has been on a hunger strike for 19 days in protest against the increase in executions. Additionally, a group of political prisoners in Kahnouj Prison in Kerman announced that they have joined the 'Tuesdays No to Execution' campaign and will be on a hunger strike. Members of the 'Tuesdays No to Execution' campaign condemned the widespread executions in Iran and the sentencing of the four Baloch prisoners in an unfair trial. They also called on human rights activists to raise the voices of prisoners and the families of those sentenced to death to the world and emphasized that the only way to stop executions is through collective solidarity. According to this statement, in the fortieth week, hunger-striking prisoners are on strike in the following prisons: Evin Prison (women's ward, wards 4 and 8), Qazalhasar Prison (units 3 and 4), Central Prison of Karaj, Greater Tehran Prison, Khorramabad Prison, Arak Prison, Asadabad Isfahan Prison, Shiraz Prison, Shiban Ahvaz Prison, Bam Prison, Mashhad Prison, Lakan Rasht Prison (women's and men's wards), Qaemshahr Prison, Ardabil Prison, Tabriz Prison, Urmia Prison, Salmas Prison, Khoy Prison, Naqdeh Prison, Saqqez Prison, Baneh Prison, Marivan Prison, Kamyaran Prison, and Kahnouj Prison in Kerman.
