White House National Security Advisor: U.S. Support for Israel Against Threats from the Islamic Republic is 'Ironclad'

The White House National Security Advisor on Tuesday, in a press conference responding to a question about the U.S. readiness to counter any potential retaliatory actions by the Islamic Republic following the alleged Israeli attack on its consulate in Damascus, stated that Washington's support for Israel is 'ironclad.' Jake Sullivan said: 'We are monitoring the public statements of Iranian officials and open reports regarding Iran's potential plans for retaliatory actions, and as the President told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, U.S. support for Israel's defense against threats from Iran and its proxy forces is 'ironclad.' He added that he does not intend to publicly discuss operational details regarding countering these threats. John Kirby, the White House National Security Advisor for Communications, also mentioned on Monday in a conference call about threats from Iranian officials regarding retaliation for the alleged Israeli attack on their consulate in Damascus: 'Iran has made very public threats against Israel, and one of the points that the U.S. President made in his call with Benjamin Netanyahu was that the Israeli government can count on U.S. support for any self-defense needs against direct threats from Iran.' Kirby continued: 'Not only our forces but also our diplomatic personnel in Iraq and Syria are constantly under threat, and we take this matter seriously. Therefore, we are taking appropriate protective measures and are prepared for a proportional response based on changes, and this position has not changed and will not change. We take threats against the American people seriously and know that those groups carrying out such attacks are supported, equipped, and financed by the IRGC.' Hours earlier, the Arabic-language media outlet 'Jade Iran' reported, citing an Arab diplomatic source, that the Iranian government told the U.S. that it would refrain from responding to the deadly Israeli attack on its consulate in Damascus if a ceasefire is established in Gaza.
