White House: We Are Not Seeking Regime Change in Iran

Jake Sullivan, the National Security Advisor of the White House, stated on Thursday, October 25, that the United States is not seeking regime change in Iran. This senior official of the Biden administration said, "We do not believe that the United States has a good track record in designing policies aimed at regime change." Just hours earlier, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken emphasized the "close coordination" between the U.S. and Israel to prevent further "aggressions" from the Iranian government. Blinken added that the U.S., in cooperation with its partners, has sent a message to Tehran, either directly or indirectly, that further attacks on Israel would have "deeply negative consequences" for Iran's interests. He, who had recently traveled to Israel, emphasized on Thursday after meeting with senior Qatari officials that escalating tensions "benefits no one." The remarks from the senior U.S. diplomat came amid repeated threats from senior Israeli officials regarding the certainty of their response to the missile attack from the Islamic Republic on Israel. Over 180 ballistic missiles were fired at Israel by the Iranian government on October 1, while this government had also launched 320 projectiles, including suicide drones and ballistic and cruise missiles, at Israel on April 14.
