White House: We Have Never Been This Close to Peace

According to Fox News, Ukraine agreed to this deal earlier this week after a meeting with American officials in Saudi Arabia, but this agreement is conditional on Moscow's commitment to implementing the ceasefire plan. Caroline Levitt referred to Donald Trump's recent post on the social media platform 'Truth Social,' in which the former President urged Russia to accept the ceasefire proposal. She explained, "Trump is pressuring Vladimir Putin and Russian officials to make the right decision. Yesterday was a successful day for the United States and the world. We have never been this close to peace." Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky accused Moscow of obstructing peace negotiations and called on Trump to impose harsher sanctions against Russia. NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte praised Trump's efforts to reduce tensions between Russia and Ukraine and emphasized that the peace talks in Saudi Arabia marked a turning point in this crisis. Rutte addressed Trump, saying, "You broke the deadlock of the Russia-Ukraine war. With the start of these discussions and the success of negotiations with the Russians and Ukrainians, a significant step towards peace has been taken."
