Widespread Fire and Potential Explosion in Doroud Industrial Town

On Wednesday, August 2, the head of the Fire Department of Doroud in Lorestan province reported a large fire at the "Petro Refining Gahar" company in the industrial town of this city, while officials in the province expressed concern about the potential for an explosion. According to Iranian news agencies, Ayat Jamali Folavand, the head of the Fire Department of Doroud, described the scale of the fire at this gasoline production factory as "very extensive." Simultaneously, the Director General of Crisis Management in Lorestan announced the possibility of an explosion and added that all units surrounding the "Petro Refining Gahar" factory have been evacuated. Morteza Pazouki stated that more than twenty fire engines have been deployed to extinguish the fire at the incident site. Farhad Ziyavar, the governor of Lorestan, also expressed concern about the possibility of the fire spreading to gasoline tanks adjacent to the "Petro Refining Gahar" factory during his visit to the fire site in the Doroud industrial town. In this regard, officials from Lorestan province reported the dispatch of forces and equipment from various cities in the province as well as from the central province. Mousa Nasr, the governor of Doroud, announced that firefighting forces from four cities, Khorramabad, Boroujerd, Azna, and Aligoodarz, have been sent to the incident site to extinguish the fire. He also mentioned consultations with the Arak petrochemical company to send foam machines to the fire site. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and the number of injured in this incident has so far been reported as two. Reports indicate that strong winds have complicated the control and extinguishing of the fire.
