Woody Allen Creates His First Television Series

Amazon's film division announced that it has signed a contract to produce a television series with American filmmaker Woody Allen. According to the Associated Press, the Oscar-winning filmmaker has written and directed all episodes of his first television series himself. Amazon Instant Video, the film and entertainment division of Amazon, announced on Tuesday, January 13, that it has ordered a full season of this television series. The half-hour series is set to premiere in 2016. Details regarding the cast and the name of the series have not yet been disclosed. Roy Price, Vice President of Amazon Studios, stated that Woody Allen is a visionary filmmaker who has maintained his position at the forefront of American cinematic creativity by creating some of the best films in history over his 50-year career. The 79-year-old Woody Allen humorously stated in a statement, 'I have no idea and don’t know where to start. I guess Roy Price will regret this decision.' Signing the television series contract with Woody Allen is another achievement for Amazon Studios, which is still considered a newcomer in the online film and entertainment world. On Sunday, the first season of the Amazon-produced series 'Transparent' won two Golden Globe Awards, including Best Comedy Series. The online streaming of films and television series has ushered television entertainment into a new realm with the direct provision of these products. Throughout his half-century of cinematic activity, Woody Allen has directed over 40 films and acted in most of them. His first film, translated into Persian as 'What's New Pussycat?', was made in 1966. While his latest cinematic project, 'Magic in the Moonlight', was released last year, Woody Allen is currently working on a new film in 2015.
