Yashar Tabrizi Contacts Family After Over a Month of Uncertainty Regarding His Status

After more than a month of uncertainty regarding Yashar Tabrizi's status, his Telegram channel reported that this civil activist contacted his family and described the physical and psychological pressures he faced during his detention. According to the report, after 33 days of silence, Tabrizi called his family on December 23 and recounted the 'tortures' he endured during this time. Yashar Tabrizi was arrested on November 20 after being summoned by phone to the Intelligence Organization of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in East Azerbaijan Province, and his family had not been allowed to visit him even once until Sunday. According to Tabrizi's Telegram channel, during this period, he went on a dry hunger strike in protest against the ban on visits and calls, as well as various physical and psychological pressures, and sewed his lips shut. The report stated that he was given an intravenous drip due to severe weakness and fatigue, and his physical condition has stabilized to some extent, but his life remains in danger. The Telegram post emphasized that the responsibility for ensuring Yashar Tabrizi's health lies entirely with the judiciary of the Islamic Republic, the Islamic Republic Prisons Organization, and the case's agents. Yashar Tabrizi is accused of 'acting against national security' and 'communicating with foreign governments,' and based on these charges, his phone contact from prison has been limited to the shortest possible time. Yashar Tabrizi's daughter stated, 'I am Asma, who will accompany and support my father's truth-telling.' Tabrizi's visit to the IRGC intelligence headquarters followed a raid by government forces on his home. The family of Yashar Tabrizi, the detained civil activist, remains unaware of his situation.
