Yashar Tabrizi Transferred to 'Ward 204' of Evin Prison

News sources from Iran have reported that Yashar Tabrizi, a human rights activist who was arrested five days ago, has been transferred to 'Ward 204' of Evin Prison. Pouya Jigarvand, a civil activist in Iran, wrote on the 'X' messaging platform on Monday, September 18: 'Yashar Tabrizi has been transferred to Ward 204 of Evin Prison after five days of uncertainty.' Various sources have identified Ward 204, to which Yashar Tabrizi has been taken, as a 'secret ward of the IRGC.' The website 'Asr-e No' reported in 2009 that this ward is 'carved into the heart of a mountain' and 'designed like a grave, where prisoners find themselves in a coffin upon entering these cells. There is no light or sound. Absolute darkness and silence prevail, and guards and interrogators approach prisoners with flashlights.' Access for free media and human rights organizations to prisons in Iran is not possible, and Voice of America cannot independently confirm the described conditions of Ward 204 of Evin Prison. Yashar Tabrizi, a constitutionalist civil activist residing in Shahriar, was arrested two days before the anniversary of the killing of Mahsa Amini in Tabriz, and this is the first news about him after five days. In his last video, posted on September 10 on his personal account on the 'X' messaging platform to commemorate the birthday of Aylara Haghi, one of the victims of the nationwide protests of 2022, he emphasized: 'We will continue this path, more determined than before; with a full tongue and empty hands, against a government that has rebelled against its people.'
