Yashica Camera Returns with 'Digital Photography Film'

Yashica has returned to the photography world after years of absence with the Yashica Y35 camera, which combines a digital camera with the experience of an analog camera. This new camera, considered the company's first digital camera, aims to change the atmosphere of digital photography and bring it closer to the style of negative photography. While digital photography has many advantages over negative photography, some photographers believe that the high speed and large capacity of memory cards have led to many photos being taken with little precision, often forgotten among thousands of images on memory cards after a short time. Now, Yashica's new model seeks to encourage photographers to reflect more. The new Yashica camera features a component similar to negative rings, and the photographer must insert these components into the camera to change the various ISO settings. This component is called 'Digi-Film.' For example, if you want to change the settings from ISO 1600 to black and white with ISO 400, you must remove the Digi-Film and insert a new ring. However, you cannot immediately take a photo after this action; the camera needs a short time to 'capture the negative.' For this purpose, a film regulator and advance mechanism have also been incorporated, which must be used. Yashica states that this type of adjustment is designed to encourage photographers to think more about their subjects and to photograph with greater focus. The iconic negative rings are intended only for setting the shooting mode, and photos are saved on the SD memory card in the card slot. Along with the new Yashica product, four Digi-Film rings are provided. The first offers the best quality with ISO 200 for standard color photos, and the second is a 120 format that provides a 6x6 aspect ratio with ISO 200, suitable for Instagram. Other Digi-Films include ISO 1600 with high shutter speed and black and white with ISO 400. This camera is of the 35mm type and uses a 35mm lens with an aperture size of 2.8. The sensor of this camera is also a 35mm CMOS type. The lens size is chosen to be fully practical for social photography and everyday shooting. However, to get closer to the feeling of negative photography, this camera does not have an LCD screen, meaning that photographers cannot check their photos after taking them. Therefore, like negative cameras, photographers must apply all their precision to photography. Yashica has stated that the world revealed by our new camera will be a bit slower and more beautiful, taking us back to a time when we all paid more attention and took more time to think and pause before pressing the shutter button, as the photo had to be good or it would be lost. The price of Yashica's new product is set at $1,100. Yashica was founded in 1949 in Nagano, Japan, to produce watches. However, after a while, the company's managers decided to make changes to the production line and shift from watches to camera production. The company launched its first medium-format camera in June 1953 under the name Yashicaflex, which featured a dual-reflex lens. Yashica continued its activity in the field of 35mm camera production and was able to launch quality cameras at reasonable prices, with the Yashica Pentamatic being one of its most famous creations. In 1983, the company was acquired by the Japanese company Kyocera. This company continued to resist new technology and considered negatives superior to digital photography. This policy ultimately led to the cessation of Yashica-branded photography products in 2003.
