Yasmin Hashdari Released; Forough Samiinia's Mother Told They Will Work with Her for Another Week

Forough Samiinia's mother, a women's rights activist who was detained in Gilan, says that despite providing bail, she has not yet been released, and when they visited the judicial authority, they were told, "We will work with her for another week." Kobari Ahmadi Zadeh, Forough Samiinia's mother, told "Shabake Shargh" on Tuesday, September 19, "We were told to provide the necessary bail for Forough Samiinia to be released, but yesterday when we went for her release, they said she will not be released for now and that we will work with her for another week." She emphasized that "they did not say what they meant by working with her," adding, "But they said she must remain in detention for another week. They also said that besides Forough, Zahra Dadras and Sara Jahani will also be released in a week." According to Forough Samiinia's mother, the families do not know "the reason for this," and judicial authorities have not informed them "of their charges." The mother of the detained civil activist said that on Tuesday, "I visited Forough in prison; she also had no news about her release time." News and human rights sources reported that on Tuesday, Yasmin Hashdari, a civil activist in Bandar Anzali, was temporarily released from Lakan prison in Rasht after posting a bail of "500 million tomans." Before the anniversary of Mahsa Amini's death and amid pressure from the Islamic Republic's forces on civil activists, several civil activists in Gilan province, including Jalveh Javaheri, Forough Samiinia, Matin Yazdani, Yasmin Hashdari, Negin Rezaei, Zahra Dadras, Zahra Dadras, Vahedeh Khushsirat, Shiva Shahsiah, Sara Jahani, Azadeh Chavoshian, and Houman Taheri were detained on August 16 in the cities of Rasht, Lahijan, Fuman, and Bandar Anzali. The identity of the thirteenth person has not been disclosed. The Gilan Intelligence Department has claimed without providing any evidence that the detainees intended "subversive actions." Among these detainees, Vahedeh Khushsirat, Negin Rezaei, Shiva Shahsiah, Mahsa Basir Tavana, Jalveh Javaheri, Matin Yazdani, and Zahra Dadras have been released on bail, and Houman Taheri has been released on a guarantee. Additionally, Zahra (Fatemeh) Dadras and Sara Jahani have been charged with "propaganda against the regime," and Houman Taheri has been accused of "membership in a group intending to disrupt national security and propaganda against the regime." On the anniversary of Mahsa Amini's death in the custody of the morality police, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated that "a year ago, the tragic and unreasonable death of Mahsa in the custody of the so-called 'morality police' of Iran sparked protests across Iran that faced unprecedented violence, mass arrests, systematic internet disruptions, and censorship by the Iranian regime." Blinken added, "We will continue to take appropriate actions alongside our international partners to hold accountable those who suppress the enjoyment of human rights by Iranians."
