Yasser Hashemi: Rouhani Has Not Accepted the Report Regarding My Father's Death

Yasser Hashemi, the son of Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, announced that the President of Iran has "not accepted the entire content" of the National Security Council's report regarding the circumstances of his father's death and has ordered that this matter be reviewed again by the council. On Tuesday, January 8, in an interview with the 'Pana' news agency, Yasser Hashemi stated: "I have heard that the National Security Council sent a letter to the President stating that the case of Ayatollah Hashemi's death should be closed in this council, but the President did not accept this issue and referred the case back to the National Security Council." He emphasized that according to the instructions, the case must be reopened. According to Yasser Hashemi, Hassan Rouhani "has not accepted the entire content of the report; perhaps because he feels that further investigations are necessary." He announced that the case formed in the National Security Council has not yet been handed over to the Hashemi Rafsanjani family, but it was supposed that Mohsen Hashemi would go to this council and study the case. Previously, Fa'ezeh Hashemi, the daughter of Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, reported on December 25 that in a meeting attended by several members of the National Security Council, the Hashemi family was told that there were "10 times the permissible limit of radioactivity" in their father's body. Iranian National Security Council officials have not responded to Ms. Hashemi's statements after about a month. Various speculations had previously been made regarding Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani's death, but Mohammad Hashemi, his brother, stated on February 9, 2017, that his brother was neither "assassinated" nor suffered "suffocation," but the cause of his death was "cardiac arrest." However, Mohammad Hashemi stated on December 25 of this year in an interview with the 'Shahrvand' newspaper that "the cause of death was announced as cardiac arrest in the hospital, but no one has announced the cause of the cardiac arrest. No one has yet stated what the cause of the cardiac arrest was." Fatemeh Hashemi, Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani's daughter, also stated that "there was no heart problem or illness in my father, and he was physically much stronger than many of his children." Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani was 82 years old at the time of his death. Fatemeh Hashemi also announced that after her father's death, individuals went to his office at the Expediency Discernment Council and emptied a safe that contained "important documents." Ms. Hashemi also reported the disappearance of her father's "second will."
