You Did Not Reflect the Extent of the Protests in Isfahan and the Widespread Arrests in That City - 2003-07-03

Hello and thank you for your efforts. Regarding Mr. Colin Powell's statements today about recent developments, where he said this is an intra-factional conflict and Mr. Khatami is the people's choice and we do not interfere in their affairs, my friends and I were surprised by what analysis and news these statements were based on. First, the Iranian people and students in these protests chanted for Khatami's resignation, taking back their votes from him, and secondly, Mr. Khatami is no longer the representative of the people. Furthermore, the two factions are currently allied in suppressing the students and the freedom-seeking people. Not only has there been no support for the students from Mr. Khatami, but he has even labeled them as rioters. The reformist members of parliament have done nothing except for a useless three-day sit-in with four people. Here, I must remind the U.S. government and Mr. Powell that the Iranian people have lost hope in the reformists within the system and have chosen another path to achieve democracy and freedom, which is the struggle for the overthrow of this regime so that they can achieve their long-held dreams under a democratic and freedom-seeking government. Perhaps Mr. Powell has been deceived by Jack Straw, as Mr. Straw said the same things during his visit to Iran and stated that Iran's internal affairs are their own concern. Of course, we do not expect anything from Mr. Straw because we know that Britain benefits greatly from this government and is exploiting Iran under this regime. However, we expect the U.S. government, which is the cradle of freedom and civilization, to support the students and the freedom-seeking people of Iran in their struggle to overthrow this regime and achieve democracy and freedom. In Isfahan, Melk City, and Shahin City, more than twenty banks were set on fire by the people. Regime mercenaries killed more than ten people in Zizicheh, Mobarakeh, Isfahan, Melk City, and Shahin City. Thousands have been arrested throughout the province. We call on the United Nations, the U.S., European governments, and Iranians abroad to condemn the crimes of this regime and assist the Iranian people in establishing a democratic and free government in Iran.
