Zahra Sarv, political prisoner suffering from cancer, has been denied medical treatment

Reports from Iran indicate that Zahra Sarv, a political prisoner suffering from cancer at Evin Prison, has been denied treatment. The Tavana website quoted a reliable source stating that despite her cervical cancer diagnosis, Zahra Sarv has been deprived of her right to medical care. According to the report, her recent request for conditional release has also been denied. This constitutional monarchist prisoner was sentenced to 7 years in prison, with 6 years enforceable, by Branch 26 of the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Tehran, presided over by Iman Afshari, on charges of 'conspiracy and collusion and propaganda against the Islamic Republic.' Additionally, Zahra Sarv was granted a five-day leave following her mother's death. In 1400 (2021), after spending two and a half years in Qarchak Varamin Prison, she was released for 45 days but was re-arrested and has been in Evin Prison for three years. This constitutional monarchist prisoner, who suffers from multiple illnesses and urgently needs treatment, went on a hunger strike for about 20 days in Azar 1402 (December 2023) in protest against 'the continuation of case-making, prevention of conditional release or leave, and deprivation of the right to treatment.' According to a previous report by Voice of America, doctors had stated at that time that if this political prisoner continued her hunger strike, 'her internal organs would suffer serious damage' and she could fall into a 'coma.' Ultimately, despite the prison authorities' indifference to her demands and following a request from Prince Reza Pahlavi, Zahra Sarv ended her hunger strike.
