Zartosht Ahmadi Raghab, political prisoner, transferred to solitary confinement after supporting fellow inmate

Human rights sources reported that Zartosht Ahmadi Raghab, a political prisoner in Qazalhessar prison in Alborz province, was transferred to solitary confinement in a "punitive" action by prison officials on Saturday, June 25. According to HRANA, the news agency of human rights activists in Iran, on Sunday, June 26, a source close to Ahmadi Raghab's family confirmed that the transfer to solitary confinement was carried out by the "prison disciplinary council" after Zartosht Ahmadi Raghab protested the transfer of another political prisoner named Ahmadreza Haeri to solitary confinement. Poya Jigarvand, a civil activist and friend of Zartosht Ahmadi Raghab, stated that this political prisoner was taken to "solitary confinement in Hall 3," which is known as the "quarantine hall for death row inmates"; a place that Mr. Ahmadi Raghab has described as "one of the hardest tortures." This civil activist claimed that the reason for Zartosht Ahmadi Raghab's transfer to solitary confinement was for "torture" due to announcing "public food" in commemoration of the death of Ebrahim Raisi. According to previous reports, Ahmadreza Haeri, a political prisoner, was transferred to solitary confinement last week, starting from Sunday, May 19, after protesting the situation of Saman Yasin, by order of the "prison warden." Zartosht Ahmadi Raghab, who is one of the signatories of the "14th statement" calling for a transition from the Islamic Republic and the resignation of Ali Khamenei, was released from prison in Bahman 1401 but was arrested again shortly after his release on March 7 of the same year while attempting to attend a teachers' gathering to protest the serial poisoning of students in Iranian schools, where he was "beaten" during his arrest. Mr. Ahmadi Raghab, who is a firefighter and was dismissed from work due to his human rights activities, continues his civil activism even in prison. This political prisoner has repeatedly gone on hunger strikes in protest against human rights violations. Additionally, there are growing concerns regarding the imminent execution of a political prisoner; Kamran Sheikhe has been transferred to solitary confinement. Amnesty International has called for an "immediate halt" to the execution of Reza Rasayi.
