Zelensky to Present Ukraine's 'Victory Plan' Against Russia at Ramstein Meeting

Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, stated on Saturday, October 6, via the messaging platform Telegram, that he will present his country's 'victory plan' in the war against Russia at the 'Ramstein' meeting in Germany. Zelensky added that Ukraine will provide clear and specific steps for a just end to the war at this meeting, which will take place on October 13. According to Reuters, Ukraine, which has been facing a military invasion from Russia for nearly a thousand days, has recently announced the preparation of a plan to end the war. The details of this plan have not been made public, but Zelensky presented it to Joe Biden, the President of the United States, as well as both main candidates in the upcoming U.S. presidential election, Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, during his visit to Washington last month. A spokesperson for the U.S. State Department stated that this plan includes 'constructive steps' and that the United States is willing to cooperate with Ukraine on it. However, the Wall Street Journal, citing unnamed U.S. officials, reported that the plan lacks a comprehensive strategy and is merely a reiteration of requests for more weapons and the lifting of restrictions on the use of long-range missiles deep within Russian territory. In another event, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken emphasized continued U.S. support for Ukraine's resistance against Russia's military aggression during a call with his Ukrainian counterpart Andriy Sybiha. According to the U.S. State Department's website, they also discussed the U.S. commitment and the assistance of its partners to strengthen Ukraine's energy sector resilience in the upcoming winter. The two officials expressed eagerness for the participation of Joe Biden and other leaders of countries allied with Kyiv in the upcoming meetings of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in Ramstein.
