Zelensky to Trump's Envoy: We Are Ready for a Security Agreement with the U.S.

Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, announced on Thursday, February 21, on the social media platform 'X', about his 'constructive meeting' with Keith Klage, the special envoy of the U.S. President for Ukraine, describing it as a 'useful conversation filled with key points.' He thanked the United States for its extensive bipartisan support for Ukraine and its people, stating that U.S. support is of vital importance for Ukraine and the free world. Mr. Zelensky explained that during this meeting, the situation on the battlefronts, ways to return prisoners of war, and the establishment of effective security guarantees were comprehensively discussed, emphasizing that Ukraine has been seeking peace since the beginning of the war and desires a sustainable peace that prevents the return of war by Russia. He added that Ukraine is ready to sign a strong security and investment agreement with the U.S. President and has presented practical and swift proposals to achieve results. Volodymyr Zelensky stated that his team will work around the clock to advance this goal. He considered success as a connector for all parties and noted that the strong relationship between Ukraine and the U.S. is beneficial for the world. At the end, Mr. Zelensky thanked General Klage for his cooperation in achieving valuable results. Keith Klage, the special envoy of Donald Trump for Ukraine, arrived in Kyiv on Wednesday, February 20. His visit to Ukraine comes at a time when the Trump administration has taken a different stance on the Ukraine crisis. While the Biden administration had provided extensive military aid to Ukraine, Trump is seeking a diplomatic solution to end the war. Previously, Donald Trump, the President of the United States, referred to Volodymyr Zelensky as 'a relatively successful comedian' and 'a dictator without elections' on Wednesday. Mr. Trump wrote on his 'Truth Social' platform: 'Volodymyr Zelensky asked the United States to spend $350 billion, to enter a war that cannot be won, a war that should never have started, but a war that he, without the United States and Trump, will never be able to resolve.' He emphasized that 'the United States has spent $200 billion more than Europe, and Europe's money is guaranteed, while the United States will get nothing back,' criticizing Joe Biden, the former President of the United States, for not 'demanding equality.' The U.S. President pointed out that 'this war is much more important for Europe than for us' and added: 'Zelensky admits that half of the money we sent him is missing, he refuses to hold elections, and his popularity in Ukrainian polls is very low.' The U.S. President said: 'A dictator without elections, Zelensky better move quickly, or there will be no country left for him.'
