Zeynab Karimiann and Saleh Deldam Arrested

According to reports from several news websites, Zeynab Karimiann, a former reporter for the IRNA and Mehr news agencies and a collaborator on a television program, and Saleh Deldam, a young film producer and director, have been arrested. The Ensaf News website reported on Tuesday, January 24, about the arrest of Zeynab Karimiann, stating that she is part of the production team for the television program 'Hala Khorshid,' which airs on Iran's Channel 3, hosted by Reza Rashidpour. According to this website, Ms. Karimiann also collaborated with Rashidpour on the online program 'Did Dar Shab' during Rashidpour's media ban. The report indicates that Zeynab Karimiann is considered a 'government-supporting' journalist. According to some reports, Ms. Karimiann had previously worked for the Mehr and IRNA news agencies. On the morning of Tuesday, January 7, security agents also arrested Tahereh Riahi, a journalist and editor of the social group at the Borna news agency, at her home in Tehran, and no report on her status has been published since. Tahereh Riahi had previously worked at the Shargh and Mardom-e Emruz newspapers. According to the Khabar Online website, Saleh Deldam, a young film producer and director, was arrested last week 'by the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence, and the reason for his arrest remains unclear.' This website stated without details that Deldam had previously been summoned for questioning by the IRGC and the Ministry of Intelligence due to 'some of his disclosures' and was also arrested in 2009 on charges of propaganda activities. The Aftab website reported in 2011 that this producer and director had been summoned to the 8th branch of the 'Government Employees' Court' due to a complaint by Javad Mohammadi Ardestani, the director of the video media company Tasvir Donyaye Honar, regarding a letter he had published addressing Javad Shamaghdari, the then Deputy Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, in which he spoke of 'the collusions and corruption present in the Tasvir Donyaye Honar company.' No report has been published regarding the outcome of this case. This director is a responsible member of the artists' branch of the Democratic Party and has directed films such as 'Marthiyeh Baraye Lalehzar,' 'Bazgasht,' 'Emza,' 'Bi Del,' and 'Kebab Ghaz.'
