Zolnoor: The status of referring the question from the President to the Judiciary will be determined on Sunday

Mojtaba Zolnoor, one of the questioners of Hassan Rouhani, stated that the status of referring the question from the President of Iran to the Judiciary will likely be determined on Sunday, September 2. He mentioned in an interview with ISNA on Tuesday, September 4, that several applicants for questioning the President will have a meeting with legal representatives of the Parliament to clarify the referral of the question from Hassan Rouhani to the Judiciary. This member of Parliament added: 'We will examine how the President's performance regarding the four questions that the representatives were not satisfied with his answers has been, and if this performance is based on a violation of the law, the question will be referred to the Judiciary.' Mojtaba Zolnoor added: 'If there has been no violation of the law, there is no reason for referral.' In the session on Tuesday, the representatives were only satisfied with the answer regarding banking sanctions out of five questions related to the economic situation and the severe depreciation of the rial, and did not find Hassan Rouhani's answers to the other four questions convincing. 'The issue of referring the questions to the Judiciary is not on the table,' Zolnoor's remarks came as Behrouz Naimi, the spokesman for the Parliament's presiding board, stated: 'Currently, the issue of representatives not being satisfied with the President's answers to the questions and referring it to the Judiciary is not on the table,' and 'this matter depends on the summary and legal opinion of the Parliament and the presiding board.' In response to the question of whether the questions from Hassan Rouhani will be referred to the Judiciary according to the regulations, he said: 'In the note of Article 213 of the regulations, it is stated that if the representatives of the Parliament are not satisfied with the President's answers, if the subject relates to a violation or evasion of the law, it will be referred to the Judiciary, so the issue of the Judiciary is not yet on the table.' Naimi pointed out that the legislative and legal advisors of the Parliament and its legal commission must provide the necessary compliance with various laws to determine whether a violation or evasion has occurred. The spokesman for the Parliament's presiding board added: Laws such as development plans, business laws, combating smuggling of goods and currency, and other matters need to be reviewed and matched, and then the summary will be presented to the presiding board. If the presiding board reaches a conclusion, the matter will be referred to the Judiciary. Naimi said: If the question goes to the Judiciary, the issue of criminalization is raised. There, judges must examine the matter, and it no longer relates to the Islamic Consultative Assembly.' 'Rouhani's statistics had a humorous aspect,' said Nasser Mousavi Largani, a member of the Parliament's Economic Commission, on Tuesday, stating that 'Mr. Rouhani's very unrealistic statistics on economic issues, especially employment, during this holiday season mostly brought joy and uplifted people's spirits; because they were more humorous than factual.' This member of the Economic Commission addressed Hassan Rouhani, saying: 'At least 10,000 people became unemployed every month of the year,' and added: 'The time for advertising and elections and slogans is over.' He also criticized Hassan Rouhani for his 'top-down' rhetoric towards the Parliament, which is not befitting the Iranian people and their representatives. Abdolreza Masri, a representative who designed the question for the President, announced that these representatives are more focused on solving people's problems than referring the question to the Judiciary, describing the session questioning Hassan Rouhani as 'a model for constructive dialogue between the government and the Parliament.' According to the House of Nation news agency, affiliated with the Parliament, he responded to the question of whether the questions that representatives were not satisfied with would be referred to the Judiciary according to the internal regulations of the Parliament: 'The fate of the question posed to the President is in the hands of the Judiciary and the judge... The judge will decide after hearing the explanations of both parties regarding the obligations that the government has not been able to execute. However, the goal of the representatives of the Parliament is by no means such a thing, but rather the resolution of people's problems by the government.' Abdolreza Masri commented on a tweet by Hossein Ali Haji Deligani, a member of Parliament, regarding the possibility of impeaching Hassan Rouhani, saying: 'The questioners of the President are by no means seeking such procedures but are looking to assist the government and solve people's problems.' Hossein Ali Haji Deligani tweeted early Tuesday: 'If Mr. President does not provide a satisfactory answer to the five economic questions today, we will inevitably sign the impeachment proposal against him.' Ahmad Moradi, a representative from Bandar Abbas, stated: 'The Parliament, regardless of reformists, principlists, and independents, voted negatively on the President's explanations and understood the people's concerns regarding employment, rising prices of currency, gold, inflation, and organized smuggling. He added: 'The representatives of the Parliament, on behalf of the people, proved that they do not have any reservations with anyone.' In recent days, prior to Hassan Rouhani's response to the questions from a group of representatives, Massoud Karbasian was dismissed from the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance, and Ali Rabiei was dismissed from the Ministry of Cooperatives, Labor, and Social Welfare. In this context, the impeachment proposal against Mohammad Shariatmadari, the Minister of Industry, Mine, and Trade, was submitted to the Parliament's presiding board with 50 signatures on Tuesday.
